How is NEPSE Share Profit Calculated in Nepal?

Selling an IPO or secondary market share in Nepal's NEPSE via TMS involves several hidden government and brokerage fees. Most investors look at their sell price multiplied by ten (kitta) and assume that's their final profit—but you will get significantly less deposited into your bank account after standard deductions.

The 4 Hidden Deductions

  • SEBON Fee: The Securities Board of Nepal takes a mandatory 0.015% cut on the total transaction amount.
  • DP Fee: A flat Rs. 25 fee is charged directly by your Depository Participant (your Meroshare holding bank or capital) for transferring shares digitally.
  • Broker Commission: Brokers charge tiered percentages. For retail IPOs under Rs 50,000, the fee is exactly 0.40% of the traded volume.
  • Capital Gains Tax (CGT): You only pay this if you made a profit! If you held the stock for more than a year (like most IPOs at maturity), you pay 5% of the net capital gain. If holding under 1 year, you pay 7.5% directly to the Nepal Government.

Our Nepal IPO Profit Calculator handles all these complex layered tier calculations instantaneously, giving you the precise unrounded rupee amount that will be physically deposited into your linked IPS bank account.
