Why Nepal uses two GPA-to-percentage methods

Since Nepal's SEE and +2/NEB boards moved to a 4.0-point GPA grading system, students still frequently need a percentage equivalent for scholarship forms, foreign university applications, and job applications that ask for percentage marks. There's no single official GPA-to-percentage formula that every institution accepts, so this tool offers both common approaches:

  • Simple Estimate (GPA × 25): the quickest, most widely used rule of thumb — a 3.6 GPA becomes roughly 90%.
  • Grade Band Estimate: maps your GPA to the letter-grade percentage range (e.g. A+ = 90-100%) that most Nepali institutions actually publish in their grading policy.

Frequently asked questions

Which method should I use? Check what your target form or institution specifies. If unspecified, the ×25 simple estimate is the most commonly accepted default.

Is this an official conversion? No single formula is officially mandated across all Nepali institutions — always confirm with the specific college, university, or scholarship body if the result must be exact.
